How to Create Auto Facebook Comment Bot for Free in 2025

In this tutorial, I break down how you can automatically reply to comments on Facebook. Basically, we will create our own Facebook Comment Bot.

I will show you how to:

• And how you can set up the automated funnel yourself

What is Facebook Comment Automation?

Facebook Comment Automation lets you start a Messenger chat with anyone who comments on your Facebook post.

It boosts your Facebook engagement and turns followers into leads. Ultimately, this increases sales.

The best part?

You are not limited to sending a single message, but you can create a complete Facebook Chat funnel.

Here’s why that’s way better than using traditional “landing pages” 👇

Why Auto Reply to Comments on Facebook?

Many businesses use lead generation funnels on Facebook. But, they often rely on landing pages instead of chat funnels.

Because of this, they miss thousands of leads and Facebook auto-reply engagements. Here’s why:

A typical Facebook lead funnel looks like this:

1. You promote your lead magnet on Facebook posts and ask people to click the link in your post
2. Once they click, they’re sent to your landing page
3. Eventually, they sign up for the lead magnet

That’s the standard Facebook lead funnel, right?

Here’s the problem: When we send Facebook traffic to your landing page, you lose about 80% of it. Most people won’t click your link.

Out of the people who visit your landing page, only 5% convert. This means just 5% leave their name and email to sign up for your lead magnet:

So if we start with 1,000 Facebook followers, only 200 will reach your landing page. And from those 200, only 10 will sign up for your lead magnet:

And this approach also damages your Facebook reach and engagement. Why? Because you’re sending users off the Facebook platform, and that’s not what Facebook wants.

Facebook earns money by showing ads to people, but they can’t do that if users leave the platform.

By keeping people on Facebook, your Page will rank better in the algorithm. That’s exactly what a Facebook Chat Funnel does.

Instead of losing 80% of our traffic, we keep 100% of our Facebook traffic.

How to Set up Facebook Comments Bot

It’s super simple to create an Auto Reply Bot for Facebook Comments.

Today, we will create a Lead Funnel to give away a free guide. In return, we’ll ask for the user’s email address.

Here’s how you can do it in 3 steps:

1. Create a Free Manychat account and connect it to Facebook
2. Set up the Auto Reply to Facebook Comments Trigger in Manychat
3. Create your Facebook Bot Automation

Step 1: Create a Free Manychat account and Connect it to Facebook

Manychat is our preferred platform for creating Facebook Chat Funnels, such as the Auto Reply Bot for Facebook Comments.

Here, click on Get started for Free:

Choose for Facebook Messenger:

And click on Continue with Facebook to connect your Facebook account:

Once you’re logged in, you can select the Facebook Page and connect it to Manychat.

The next part is to set Manychat as your Primary Receiver. This tells Facebook that Manychat will handle your comments and messages.

In your Manychat dashboard, click Settings in the left menu. Then, select Messenger from the settings options:

Then scroll down to find Current Manychat Role and ensure it is set to Primary. If not, click on the provided link and follow the steps to change it:

This is very important. If you don’t set Manychat to Primary, automated replies on Facebook comments will not work.

Step 2: Set up the Comment Trigger in Manychat

To start our automation when somebody comments on our Facebook posts, we need to set up the auto reply comment Facebook trigger in Manychat.

Click on Automation in the Manychat dashboard and select New automation:

The first step is to add a trigger to our automation by clicking on New trigger:

The trigger is the event that will start our Manychat automation and thereby will start our Messenger conversation.

The trigger is the event that starts our Manychat automation. Here, it will be when anyone comments on your Facebook post.

Click on Messenger and choose User comments on your post:

The next step is to decide to what posts it should reply. Here we can choose for a specific post or to reply to any posts.

I recommend choosing for Any post, because then we can create one automation in Manychat and re-use it in multiple posts:

Now, we need to decide to what words we want reply. So we can reply to any words or reply to specific words.

Let’s say, we are a Fitness influencer and we offer a free guide on building more muscle.

Then we can ask our Facebook followers to comment “GUIDE” on our post. And once they do that, it will start a conversation in Facebook Messenger.

So we will go with Specific words and add GUIDE here:

And as you see, I also added some variations if people misspell the word, which is good practice.

The next thing is creating a Public Auto-Response. This is the comment that automatically responds in the comment section of your post.

This comment should instruct users to check their Messenger inbox and build excitement for your lead magnet.

So we can enable Public Auto-response in Feed and add multiple variations:

Step 3: Create your Facebook Bot Automation

The next step is to add a Facebook Message to the start of our flow. Whenever someone comments on your post, they will receive it in Messenger.

Select Messenger as your first message block:

In this first message, we want to confirm the interest in our lead magnet. So we will say:

{{first_name}}, are you ready to gain more muscle and take your body to the next level?

Make sure to set this message to Send as Comment Reply at the top. It’s crucial to make it work:

By the way, because we are using Facebook Messenger we already know the user’s name. This means we can make the more personal by using their name right away in the conversation. This makes Facebook Chat funnels better than landing pages. On a landing page, you should have asked for it. Now, we already know it!

The first message can only contain text and buttons or quick replies. If you’re thinking of using pictures or videos, that’s not possible because of Facebook rules.

Then, we will add a button, which will appear under this message. Once someone clicks on that button, they will get the next message.

So we can add a button with “Yes, send it over!”:

And connect this button to the next message in our conversation:

Now, we will collect the email of the user before we are giving our lead magnet. So we can add another message with:

Awesome, just one quick step to get you access!

And then add the Data Collection element:

With Data Collection in Manychat, we can ask a question and store the answer in a Manychat field. Then we can use that data in our Manychat automations.

To get the email address of the user, we can ask “What email do you want your free guide sent to?” and set the Reply Type to Email:

By setting the Reply Type to Email, Manychat validates the entered email address. If the user answers with a wrong email, Manychat will ask the user to try again with a different one.

Important: In Messenger, a bubble pops up with the email linked to the Facebook profile. So, users don’t need to type their email. They can just click the bubble.. This highly increases your conversion compared to landing pages!

Next, we need to change the User Input expires. This is by default set to 30 minutes, which means that someone has 30 minutes to reply to the question.

This is a bit short, so we set it to 23 hours:

Next, we need to remove the Skip button text, so people cannot skip this crucial step:

Once the email is collected, we can give a link to the lead magnet directly in the conversation. To do this, we create a new message with:
