7 Best WhatsApp Chatbots in 2026

With over 2.9 billion users, WhatsApp is one of the best channels to engage customers. But managing thousands of chats manually? That’s not scalable.

That’s where WhatsApp chatbots come in. They help you automate replies, qualify leads, and improve support on autopilot.

So, which platform should you use? I’ve personally tested every WhatsApp chatbot tool in this list and used several of them in real client setups.

In this guide, I’ll break down the 7 best WhatsApp chatbot platforms. Below you’ll see what each one is best for, the key tradeoffs, and which I’d pick depending on your use case.

Let’s get into it!

What is a WhatsApp chatbot?

A WhatsApp chatbot is a software tool that automatically handles conversations on WhatsApp. It can:

  • Answer questions
  • Qualify leads
  • Take actions such as sending order updates or booking appointments
  • Hand off users to the right team member

But it’s not magic. Most chatbots don’t “think” like a human unless you train them properly. And many tools require access to the official WhatsApp Business API to send broadcasts or automate at scale.

This comes with its own set of WhatsApp messaging rules you’ll want to know before you start.

The best WhatsApp chatbot for you depends on your needs. Do you want simple automation, or a complete marketing and support system, or something in between?

For example, here’s how My Jewellery (eCommerce) uses a chatbot to auto reply to customer questions:

WhatsApp Chatbot of My Jewellery that automatically answers questions

You can find more of these in my list of WhatsApp chatbot examples.

How I Chose the Best WhatsApp Chatbot Platforms

I tested each platform specifically for WhatsApp, and judged it on six things that really matter when you’re running a bot on this channel.

Ease of use. How fast you can build a WhatsApp chatbot without a developer? This is especially important with WhatsApp, because you also have to deal with the WhatsApp Business API setup.

AI and automation. I checked whether you can actually have the bot hold a conversation with AI, or whether it only follows fixed rules. On WhatsApp, a lot of customers ask questions in their own words. So just matching keywords often isn’t enough.

Marketing features. I looked at whether a platform supports WhatsApp broadcasts. These reach your audience directly in their inbox, which beats email open rates by a lot.

Live chat. No bot answers everything, so you need to be able to hand a conversation over to a human. A customer waiting on an order or refund won’t accept a dead end from a bot.

Integrations. I looked at whether each platform connects to the tools you already use, like your CRM, your eCommerce store, or your helpdesk.

Pricing. I compared what each platform costs and how much WhatsApp automation you actually get for your money.

Best for: AI Beginners

Home page of the Chatbase website

Rating: 4.1/5 ⭐

Chatbase is like a specialist. It is incredible at exactly one thing: training a chatbot on your own data and automatically answering questions about it. It makes use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to understand and respond to user queries effectively.

The platform is very user-friendly, so you can literally set up a chatbot in minutes. It’s a great choice for small businesses or individuals starting with AI chatbot tools.

With Chatbase, you can simply upload documents or share website links, and the chatbot will quickly learn from your data. Within minutes, it will be ready to answer questions about the information you’ve provided.

With Chatbase, you can easily make your AI agent smarter over time. You can improve answers manually. Or, Chatbase can automatically tell you about any knowledge gaps via its Suggestions feature.

The system learns from these revisions automatically, which I haven’t seen in any other AI platform.

Moreover, Chatbase can be linked to other apps through AI Actions. With AI Actions, your chatbot can execute tasks when users ask for it. For example, an AI Action can lookup when a customer’s order will arrive.

In short, Chatbase is an ideal solution for businesses who need AI-powered customer support quickly.

  • Very easy to use, great for beginners
  • Set up a chatbot in minutes
  • Built-in AI: Knowledge Base
  • Integrations with Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, Website, Email & Slack

  • Easily change responses of your chatbot
  • Livechat integrations with Zendesk, Salesforce, Hubspot, Zoho Desk & Freshdesk

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐

UChat is perfect for multi-channel bots and online stores. It supports many messaging channels like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram. You can build a single chatbot and deploy it across multiple channel with just one click.

Just like Manychat, it also has a drag-and-drop flow builder to create custom chatbot flows. This is pretty easy to use, but it has a higher learning curve than some other platforms.

Likewise, UChat is great if you want to manage marketing and customer support across many channels.

For lead generation, UChat has many marketing features. They include sending broadcasts, setting up sequences, and using rules.

For eCommerce businesses, UChat even offers an additional great feature, which is the WhatsApp catalog. You can simply connect your eCommerce products to UChat and directly start selling products on WhatsApp.

Botpress is a great platform for building customizable customer support chatbots for many channels.

It is built for creating advanced, AI-powered chatbots. It features a flow builder and built-in AI, so you can design custom chatbot flows while taking full advantage of its intelligent features.

5. Tidio

Best for: Customer Support for eCommerce Stores

Tidio home page

Rating: 4.1/5 ⭐

Tidio is great for eCommerce stores that want AI-powered support on WhatsApp without a complicated setup.

I used it recently for an eCommerce client, and we automated 75% of their conversations with AI in the first month.

With Tidio, you get a combination of:

  • AI
  • Chatbot flows
  • Live chat

The AI is the strongest part. It’s called Lyro, and you train it on your website, documents, and Shopify or WooCommerce products.

Once it’s trained, it can answer customer questions on its own.

When Lyro can’t answer something, that question lands in a Suggestions overview. So you can see exactly which answers need work and improve them.

You can also connect Tidio to your other tools with AI Actions. That lets Lyro do things like check an order status or send an email. So it can do way more than just replying with text.

On top of AI, there’s a flow builder for building support and lead generation flows yourself. And none of this is limited to WhatsApp. The same chatbot runs on your website, Facebook, and Instagram too.

The main limitation is marketing. Tidio simply isn’t built for marketing automation. So you can’t send WhatsApp broadcasts or auto-reply to comments on Facebook and Instagram.

Pros

  • Combines AI, chatbot flows, and live chat in one platform
  • Lyro AI trains on your website, documents, and eCommerce products
  • Suggestions overview shows you which AI answers to improve
  • AI Actions let the bot check order statuses and send emails
  • Flow builder for support and lead generation
  • Runs on WhatsApp, website, Facebook, and Instagram

Cons

  • Not built for marketing automation (no WhatsApp broadcasts)
  • Can’t auto-reply to comments on Facebook and Instagram

Which WhatsApp Chatbot Is Right for You?

With seven solid options, the best pick comes down to what you’re trying to do. So depending on what chatbot use cases you need, here’s how I’d pick:

If you’re a small business or creator who wants marketing automation on WhatsApp, go with Manychat. It’s affordable, easy to learn, and lets you send broadcasts and build flows without any technical skills.

If you’re a beginner who just wants a simple AI chatbot trained on your own data, Chatbase is the easiest place to start. You upload your documents or website, and within minutes the bot can answer questions about your business.

If you need one bot running across multiple channels, pick UChat. You build a single chatbot once and deploy it to WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, and more with a single click.

If you run an eCommerce store and want AI-powered customer support, I’d recommend Tidio. Its Lyro AI trains on your Shopify or WooCommerce products and answers customer questions on its own.

If you want full control over how your AI bot works and don’t mind a steeper learning curve, Botpress is for you. You can edit its responses, give it a custom personality, and build advanced flows.

And if you’re a large enterprise support team handling a high volume of conversations, look at Freshchat or Intercom. Both are built for big teams, with advanced AI, shared inboxes, and the integrations you need to keep everything organized at scale.

Still not sure which way to go? I compare every tool in more detail in my guide to the best chatbot platforms, which covers options beyond WhatsApp too.

Your Next Step

Choosing the right WhatsApp chatbot platform can change your business.

These are the 7 best WhatsApp chatbots. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

The next step is to get started with creating a WhatsApp chatbot. You can learn how to do that in this tutorial:

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use WhatsApp chatbots on other social media networks?

Many chatbot platforms that work on WhatsApp also work on Facebook, Instagram and other messaging apps. Examples include Manychat, UChat and Botpress.

Do I need access to the WhatsApp Business API to use a chatbot?

Yes, if you want to automate conversations at scale.

Most serious WhatsApp chatbot platforms rely on the official WhatsApp Business API to send automated messages, broadcasts, and notifications. This requires business verification and approval from Meta.

Some tools offer simplified onboarding and handle the API setup for you. Others require you to connect your own approved WhatsApp Business account.

Are WhatsApp chatbots allowed for marketing?

Yes, but there are strict rules you need to follow.

You can’t send cold outbound campaigns the way you can with email. People have to opt in before you’re allowed to message them.

When a user messages your business, you get a 24-hour window to reply freely, including any follow-ups. Once that window closes, you can only reach them using pre-approved WhatsApp message templates.

Every marketing template has to be submitted to Meta for approval first. And these template messages aren’t free. You pay per conversation.

If you break these rules, WhatsApp can restrict your number. So it’s great for warm audiences and follow-ups, but not for cold outreach.

Can WhatsApp chatbots handle payments and eCommerce orders?

Yes, but usually through integrations rather than on their own.

Most WhatsApp chatbot platforms connect to the tools you already use, like:

  • Shopify or WooCommerce
  • Your payment provider
  • Your order tracking system
  • Your CRM

Some tools also support WhatsApp catalogs, which let customers browse your products directly inside WhatsApp. That said, the full checkout usually redirects people to an external payment page, for security and compliance reasons.

Are WhatsApp bots safe?

Yes, as long as you use an official WhatsApp Business API provider.

Approved platforms follow Meta’s security rules and use encrypted messaging, so your conversations stay protected. The real risks come from unofficial tools, spammy marketing, or AI responses nobody is keeping an eye on.

So stick to verified providers and follow WhatsApp’s policies, and you’ll be fine.

Which WhatsApp chatbot is best for small businesses?

For most small businesses, Manychat is the best overall choice.

It’s affordable, beginner-friendly, and combines marketing automation, live chat, and AI features in one tool. You can build flows visually, send broadcasts, and automate support without technical skills.

If you mainly want AI that answers questions from your own data, Chatbase is a simpler alternative.

And if you run an eCommerce store and want omnichannel automation, UChat is a strong option.
