Landbot Review 2026: I Let Its AI Copilot Build My Chatbot

Landbot is one of the easiest chatbot builders to get started with. But is it the right one for your business? 

To find out, I let its AI Copilot build a customer service chatbot for Chatimize. I also added an AI agent to the flow and tested everything in the live preview.

Below I’ll share whether I recommend it, where it falls short and what it costs.

On top of that, you can add AI agents trained on your own documents and website, and connect 19 integrations.

That makes it great for small businesses that want to get started with chatbots on their website.

Landbot is a no-code platform for building flow-based chatbots for your:

How Landbot Works

Building a chatbot in Landbot is easy, and the AI does most of the work. But the first block of every flow has to ask the visitor something, which means your chatbot can only open in one language. Let me explain.

When you create your first chatbot, the AI Copilot asks what you need it for. I picked “Automate Customer Service” and let the AI build the first draft:

It came back with a full flow, with buttons for orders, returns and product questions:

From there, you work in the agent builder. You can drag in new blocks yourself, or just ask the Copilot. I asked it to add an AI agent, and it read my flow and proposed where to put one:

That’s what makes Landbot so quick to start with. You don’t need to plan a whole flow before you see something working.

The catch is the first block. It always has to capture user input, like buttons or a question, and AI blocks only become available after it:

So your chatbot’s first message is always written in one language, whether that’s English, Dutch or French. AI can easily reply to every visitor in their own language, but Landbot’s first message can’t. If your customers speak several languages, that’s a real drawback.

Bigger projects are harder too. Landbot is fine for a website chatbot that answers common questions. But it gets messy when you want to build something big.

Testing your chatbot is easy, though. While you build, a live preview runs right next to the flow, so you can click through it as a visitor would:

Landbot AI Features

Landbot has two AI features: AI agents and AI Tasks. Both live inside your flow, so the AI only takes over at the points where you place it.

AI Agents

An AI agent handles the open questions that buttons can’t. You tell it what to do in its instructions, like which questions to answer and which details to collect:

Then you train it on your own knowledge. You can add documents, text or your website:

But the AI agent can’t use your other tools. Your flow can call an integration, but the agent can’t decide to use one by itself. For example, you can’t tell it to check Shopify when someone asks where their order is.

That’s a big gap, because looking things up for customers is where AI agents save the most time.

AI Tasks

An AI Task is smaller than an agent. It doesn’t hold a conversation, it just does one job with AI and stores the result, like sorting a visitor’s question into a category:

Build an AI agent You can build an AI agent that replies on its own.
Train the AI on your content The AI learns from your website, documents or files.
AI rules Tell the AI what it may and may not do, and which steps to follow. Also called guidance, guardrails or procedures.
Let the AI perform actions The AI can do things in other tools, like book a meeting or update your CRM.
Connect the AI to MCP servers The AI agent can use any tool that has an MCP server, without a custom setup per tool.

The Landbot Inbox

Landbot has a simple inbox for when a human needs to take over. You see all conversations on the left and the visitor’s details on the right:

You can also set up auto-assignment rules. Landbot then shares new chats across your team based on how busy each person is. And you decide what happens to a chat when someone goes offline:

That’s enough to hand a conversation over to a human. But that’s all it does, so a large support team will outgrow it quickly.

Hand over to a human Your team can take over a conversation from the bot or AI, in an inbox inside the platform.
AI copilot AI helps your team inside the inbox after a handover: it summarises the chat, tells you the customer’s mood, and suggests replies.
Auto-assignment rules Conversations go to the right teammate automatically.
SLAs Set response-time targets and get alerted when a conversation is about to miss them.

Landbot works on 3 channels: your website, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

The website is where it’s strongest. You can change every part of how the chat widget looks:

You can also send a proactive message on your website. In live chat and pop-up mode, the widget greets visitors after a delay you set, so you can start the conversation before they do.

On WhatsApp, you can add both your flows and your AI agents, and you can send broadcasts to start conversations.

Landbot connects directly to 19 tools, such as:

• Stripe for payments

For everything else, you can connect Landbot to Zapier or n8n, or use webhooks. Just keep in mind that only your flows can use these integrations, not your AI agent.
