If you want to start conversations as a business on WhatsApp, you need to have a verified Facebook Business.
So in this tutorial, I will show you how you can verify your Facebook Business in just 4 simple steps.
Let’s dive in!
What is Facebook Business Verification?
If you want to access certain features on Facebook or WhatsApp, your Facebook Business Page needs to be verified.
For example, if you want to send promotional messages to your customers on WhatsApp.
Meta does this because they only want verified business to use these features.
How to Verify Your Facebook Page (Step-by-Step)
To verify your Facebook business page, all you need is to have a registered business and to follow 4 simple steps:
- Start Facebook business verification
- Choose the contact method
- Upload documents from the Chamber of Commerce
- Verify your contact method
Step 1: Start Facebook Business Verification
The first step to verify your Facebook page is to go to business.facebook.com and log in with your Facebook account.
Once you are logged in, you can select the Facebook Business Page you want to get verified for in the top-left drop-down box and click on the settings icon:
And click on Business settings:
Once you are here, you need to scroll down on the left sidebar and click on Business info:
On the page, you will see the details and the verification status of your business.
Because you have not verified your Facebook business page yet, the business verification status will be set to Unverified. Next to your Business Verification status, there is a button that says View details, you need to click on that:
This will take you to the “Security Center” page, where you’ll find the security details of your page.
Here is also a section that says “Verification for [your page name]”. Click on Get started or Continue to start the verification process:
By the way: If you have opened this section or tried any verification before, the button will say “Continue” (like in the above screenshot). Otherwise, it will just say “Get started”. Both buttons will do exactly the same.
When you click on the button, a pop-up will open. To go ahead with the verification, just click on Get started:
Next, you need to select the country your business is located in. In my case, it is the Netherlands. Click on Next.
Then, you need to fill in the information about your business and click on Next.
Step 2: Choose the Contact Method
Now, choose how to verify your Facebook page. There are many options, but I recommend choosing email, phone call or text message because those are the easiest options:
Click on Next.
Step 3: Upload Documents from the Chamber of Commerce
Now, Facebook will search if they can find your business in any register.
If your business name shows up in public registers, Facebook will give you a list of business options and you can just click on one. If not, you need to upload documents to Facebook to prove you are the owner of the business.
Facebook accepts several types of documents. Click on the Dialog box to see the documents Facebook accepts. These include:
- Business bank statement
- Certificate of incorporation
- Business license
- Or a tax registration certificate
In general, I recommend uploading documents from the Chamber of Commerce.
I have done this for many clients with several types of documents, but documents of the Chamber of Commerce always work. So I recommend uploading them for the legal name and your address or phone number.
If you don’t already have this, you can just go to the Chamber of Commerce and request the documents for your business. This will usually cost you a couple of bucks.
Once you have got the documents, you can upload these to Facebook and click on Next:
Step 4: Verify Your Contact Method
The last step is to verify your email address (or another verification method you used in step 3). Here, you can just fill in your email and click on Send email:
Now, Facebook will send you a confirmation code to your email and we have to fill in the confirmation code, then click on Next:
When you’ve verified your email, you’re finished with the process!
Now, Facebook will usually take a couple of days to verify your business.
And when they are done, you will get an automatic email about it.
What if my business is ineligible for verification?
It’s possible you are not eligible to verify your Facebook business page, and you will get the following screen:
If you find this with your Facebook Business, it means you don’t need to verify it. Because you’re not using a product that needs verification.
For example, if you don’t have a WhatsApp Business account connected to the page, Facebook will say you don’t need to verify it. But once you add a Whatsapp account to your Facebook business, the option to verify will pop up.
