Botpress is especially strong for AI-focused customer support on websites and multiple channels.
However, it’s not built primarily for marketing automation. So, setting up channels like Facebook or Instagram can require technical configuration.
Then there’s the price. Botpress has a free plan with 100 conversations per month, 1 seat, and 3 AI agents. That’s enough to build a bot and test it, but not enough to run one.
After that, the Plus plan costs $189/month. You get 250 conversations and 3 seats. Need more conversations? They cost $65 per pack of 100.
So Botpress is not cheap.

Go with Chatbase if you want what Botpress does with AI, minus the building. It’s the easiest platform to create AI agents with.
You give it your website or documents, and it trains on them. Within minutes it answers questions about your business.
Apart from answering questions, it can also do things with AI actions. For example, it can send a message to a Slack channel or transfer the conversation to a phone number.
It also lets you create your own custom AI actions.
For edits, Chatbase has Backstage. You explain the change to this AI, and it updates the agent.
Plus, there’s a built-in help desk, so a human can take over by live chat. Or alternatively, a ticket is created automatically when the AI doesn’t know the answer.
It’s still not a full Botpress replacement. You can’t design custom flows, and it lacks some of the deeper AI tools, such as understanding images or summarizing conversations.

With Manychat, anyone can create marketing automations and chatbots. You can:

- Send WhatsApp broadcasts
- Run multi-step campaigns with broadcasts, sequences, and automation rules

It also comes with a built-in live chat inbox. This is included on every plan, even the free one, so you can jump into a conversation yourself whenever the automation isn’t enough.
WhatsApp is a different story. You need the $39/month Pro plan to connect it, along with SMS and email. The cheaper $17/month Essential plan only covers 2 channels from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram.
Manychat also has its own AI. Since the March 2026 pricing change, it’s built into the Pro plan instead of sold as a separate add-on. You get an AI knowledge base, AI replies with a playground to test them, and an AI step you can drop straight into a flow.
That’s good enough for FAQs and simple replies. But it’s still relatively weak for open-ended conversations. If you want an AI agent that handles complex questions the way Botpress does, you’ll need to connect Manychat to a third-party AI tool yourself.
There’s one more drawback. With Manychat, you need to create separate messages for each channel. With Botpress, you build one bot and deploy it everywhere.

Just like Botpress, you can build a single chatbot and publish it across multiple channels. These include Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and more.
It’s strong in both marketing automation and customer support. You can send broadcasts, set up sequences, and handle support requests with its built-in live chat. There’s also good AI functionality, including AI agents and a solid ChatGPT integration.
The main limitation? UChat doesn’t have a built-in AI knowledge base like Botpress. So while you can use AI to handle conversations, you can’t train it directly on your documents or website content to answer in-depth questions.
Overall, UChat is very similar to Botpress. But, UChat is easier to use. Although the interface can initially still feel pretty overwhelming due to so many features.

On the AI side, Tidio offers Lyro. It’s an AI chatbot powered by Claude and Tidio’s own tech.
Lyro can be trained on your website content, FAQs, or support docs to automatically answer visitor questions. And if it doesn’t know the answer, it can hand the chat to a live agent.
Unfortunately, you can’t combine Lyro AI and chatbot flows. They work as separate systems, meaning you can’t pass a visitor mid-flow into Lyro for AI-powered answers. This limits flexibility compared to Botpress, where AI and flows can work together.
The main reason to use Tidio instead of Botpress is ease of use. Tidio is a lot more beginner friendly.
