6 Best Tidio Alternatives & Competitors

Tidio is a great choice for website live chat and chatbot automation. It combines:

  • Website live chat
  • Chatbot automation
  • AI support tools

But it’s not a great fit for everyone.

For many teams, the biggest limitation is channel support. Tidio isn’t suited for businesses that want stronger automation on Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp.

Others outgrow it when they need deeper omnichannel support or stronger tools for larger customer support teams. Plus, Tidio can be expensive for small businesses.

Over the past decade, I’ve tested over 200 chatbot platforms and reviewed more than 50 of them in depth.

So in this guide, I’ll break down the 6 best Tidio alternatives. I’ll cover who each platform is best for, the tradeoffs, and how to choose the right one for your needs.

Let’s get into it!

Best Tidio Alternatives

Why People Look for Tidio Competitors

Most people start with Tidio because it’s easy to set up for website chat and simple automation.

But as their needs grow, the limitations tend to push them toward other tools. Here are the most common ones.

Limited channel support: Tidio is built around your website. And while it connects to Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, it can’t do much with them beyond basic replies.

There are no comment auto-replies, broadcasts, or proper social campaigns. This is a problem for creators, coaches, and eCommerce brands the most.

Not enough automation or integrations: As a team grows, simple flows stop being enough.

You start wanting deeper workflows, reusable templates, or direct integrations with your CRM and other tools. And Tidio’s builder can feel thin at that point.

Pricing: Tidio looks affordable at first, but the cost climbs quickly once you add AI features or reach more visitors.

For a small business or a solo founder watching the budget, that jump can be hard to justify. It’s the most common reason people go looking for something cheaper that still covers the basics.

Tidio is still a strong option for website chat. But if you need more channels, deeper automation, or a better price, one of the alternatives below will fit better.

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐

Manychat is your best option if you want a Tidio alternative for Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. While Tidio focuses mostly on website chat, Manychat focuses on social platforms.

If you’re weighing them up directly, I break it down in my Tidio vs Manychat comparison.

It supports all major marketing automation features for Instagram and Facebook, such as:

  • Broadcasts
  • Sequences
  • Rules
  • Auto-replies to comments

For WhatsApp, it supports message templates, so it’s a great pick for both marketing and customer support. It’s also one of the easiest ways to set up WhatsApp automation.

Manychat also has a clean visual Flow Builder that’s very easy to use. It even supports other channels like Telegram, SMS, and Email.

It does have some AI capabilities, such as intent recognition and an AI Flow Builder Assistant. Though compared to tools like Chatbase or Intercom, its AI features are limited.

One key limitation: Manychat doesn’t support website chat. So if your primary focus is your website, Tidio is still be a better fit.

Pros

  • Full marketing automation for Instagram, Facebook & WhatsApp
  • Easy-to-use Flow Builder
  • Built-in Live Chat + Integrations with Zapier and Make
  • Integrates seamlessly with Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, SMS & Telegram
  • Meta-approved partner for all supported platforms

Cons

  • No website functionality
  • ManyChat AI add-on is limited
  • Separate messages must be created for each channel

Pricing

    • Free plan up to 25 contacts. You get basic features of the platform
    • Pro plan – starts at $17/month

Best for: Getting started with AI Agents

Home page of the Chatbase website

Rating: 4.1/5 ⭐

Go with Chatbase if you’re getting started with AI agents. It also connects directly to Shopify, which makes it one of the best Shopify chatbots for answering product and order questions.

With Chatbase, you simply upload your website content or documents. It automatically trains a chatbot on your business data. Within minutes, the bot is ready to start answering questions based on that information.

You can then can easily improve your chatbot’s answers. You can do this manually, and Chatbase learns from that. Another option is using its Suggestions feature. It highlights missing information in your training data.

Chatbase also has AI Actions. That means your chatbot performs real tasks, like checking order statuses or booking meetings. This makes it much more than just a Q&A bot.

You can set up a chatbot in minutes, since the platform is user-friendly.

However, Chatbase isn’t a fit if you want advanced marketing features. It doesn’t support broadcasts, sequences, or rules. It doesn’t have live chat. You also can’t create your own chatbot flows. So it’s less suited for lead generation.

Still, if your goal is to get an AI agent up and running quickly, Chatbase is great for that.

Pros

  • Train a chatbot on your website or business documents in minutes
  • AI Actions let bots perform real-world tasks
  • Supports multiple channels (Website, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Slack, Email)
  • Extremely easy to use for beginners
  • Easily update answers of your chatbot
  • Livechat integrations with Zendesk, Salesforce, Hubspot, Zoho Desk & Freshdesk

Cons

  • No custom chatbot flow builder
  • No built-in live chat
  • No marketing automation (e.g., broadcasts, sequences)

Pricing

  • Free plan: 50 message credits and train a chatbot on 400KB of content
  • Hobby Plan ($40/month): 500 messages credits and train a chatbot on 10MB

Best for: Chatbot Flows + AI on Websites

The homepage of Chatbot.com

Rating: 4.2/5 ⭐

Chatbot.com is a great Tidio alternative specifically if you want website chatbots, but with chatbot flows and AI.

It has an easy-to-use Flow Builder that lets you:

  • Create multi-step conversations
  • Collect user data

You can train the bot on your own documents or website using the AI Knowledge Base. So it can instantly answer customer questions.

You can also add a customizable chat widget to your website with proactive greetings to engage visitors. Chatbot.com integrates directly with LiveChat for seamless human handover. But, this is a separate subscription, unlike Tidio’s built-in live chat.

On top of website, Chatbot.com also supports Facebook and Slack. But it has no marketing automation features for social channels (e.g., comment auto-replies or broadcasts).

Overall, Chatbot.com is probably the best Tidio alternative, because it’s the most similar. It shares a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses.

  • Built-in AI: Intents, Entities, Knowledge Base

4. UChat

Best for: Omnichannel chatbots

UChat Homepage

Rating: 4.6/5 ⭐

UChat is one of the most flexible chatbot platforms.

It’s incredible for multi-channel bots and online stores. It supports virtually any channel, including Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, website, Telegram, and more.

UChat lets you build powerful chatbot flows with a drag-and-drop interface and then deploy them across 13+ channels from one place.

It supports all the essential marketing automation features, like:

  • Broadcasts
  • Sequences
  • Rules

It also includes built-in live chat and supports both marketing and customer support use cases.

On the AI side, UChat offers AI agents, ChatGPT integration, and other intelligent features. However, it doesn’t have an AI knowledge base. So, you can’t train your bot on documents or website content like you can with Chatbase.

The main drawback is that UChat has so many features that it can feel overwhelming. This is especially true if you’re beginners. But for users comfortable with a more advanced platform, it offers incredible flexibility and value.

Pros

  • Publish one chatbot across 13+ channels
  • Drag-and-drop Flow Builder
  • Built-in live chat + customer support tools
  • Full marketing automation: broadcasts, sequences, rules
  • ChatGPT integration and AI agents
  • Affordable pricing and generous free plan
  • 50+ integrations (Zapier, Make, and more)

Cons

  • Steep learning curve due to feature overload
  • No AI knowledge base for training on your own data

Pricing

  • Free plan
  • Paid plan starts at $15/month

Freshchat is super easy to work with. When the AI can’t help, conversations can be handed over to live chat agents using auto-assignment rules.

The platform is also good for scaling. It has tools like conversation routing and automatic translation. These help teams manage large volumes of messages.

Freshchat works across 6+ channels, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and websites. This makes it easier to support customers from one place.

Best for: Enterprise

Intercom home page

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐

If you’re a big business that needs powerful automation, AI, and marketing features, Intercom is the best Tidio alternative. For a side-by-side look, see my Tidio vs Intercom comparison.

Intercom offers:

  • An advanced visual Flow Builder
  • Built-in AI chat capabilities
  • The ability to train your bot on your own data and automatically answer questions about it

Intercom has an impressive website marketing stack. You can use it to launch product tours, banners, popups, and email series.

Plus, it supports WhatsApp broadcasts and has native integrations with over 100 tools.

However, Intercom isn’t great for smaller teams. The interface can feel overwhelming for beginners. Pricing is also on the higher side, especially for smaller teams.

Pros

  • Easy-to-use Flow Builder
  • Good website widget
  • Train your bot on your own knowledge base
  • Advanced marketing features: banners, tours, popups, email series
  • Seamless live chat with routing and automation
  • WhatsApp broadcast support
  • Over 100 native integrations
  • Great for scale and flexibility

Cons

  • Expensive for small businesses
  • It can be overwhelming for beginners

Which Tidio Alternative Is Right for You?

The right alternative comes down to why Tidio isn’t working for you. Here’s how I’d choose.

If your audience is mainly on Instagram, WhatsApp, or Facebook, go with Manychat. It’s great for social automation, with broadcasts, sequences, and comment auto-replies that Tidio can’t match on those channels.

If you want a fast AI support bot trained on your own data with almost no setup, Chatbase is the easiest option. You upload your website or documents, and within minutes the bot can answer customer questions on its own.

If you want website chatbots with flows and AI that feel closest to Tidio, pick Chatbot.com. It shares most of Tidio’s strengths. The main catch is that live chat runs through a separate LiveChat subscription, unlike Tidio’s built-in inbox.

If you need one bot running across many channels with full marketing automation, go with UChat. You can build a single chatbot and deploy it to 13+ channels, with all the broadcasts, sequences, and rules you’d want.

And if you’re a large support team handling high volume across several channels, look at Freshchat or Intercom. Freshchat is the more affordable pick with strong AI agents and routing. Intercom is built for enterprise scale with a top-tier website widget and deeper marketing tools.

If you’re still unsure, I compare even more tools in my guide to the best chatbot platforms. It looks beyond Tidio alternatives too.

Your Next Steps

These are the 6 best Tidio alternatives. Each one has their own strengths and drawbacks.

And your pick depends on what exactly you’re looking for.

The next step is to create your own chatbot. Click on these tutorials to learn how to make chatbots for your website, and various social platforms:

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Tidio alternatives are best for ecommerce?

It depends on your focus, and it’s worth seeing my full list of the best eCommerce chatbots too:

  • Chatbase is a good pick for AI-powered product and support questions. It has a strong connection with Shopify
  • Manychat is best for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp marketing
  • UChat is strong for omnichannel ecommerce automation

Can I switch from Tidio to another platform without losing my data?

Mostly, yes. You can export your contacts from Tidio as a CSV file and import them into the new tool. Your chat history can be moved through Tidio’s API or a migration service.

Flows are the trickier part, since most platforms can’t read Tidio’s format directly. However, Tidio does let you export them and some migration tools can recreate them for you.

Which Tidio alternative works best with Shopify?

Chatbase is a great pick for a Shopify store, since it connects directly and can answer product and order questions from your data.

UChat also has a Shopify integration, where the bot can search products, pull order info, and recover abandoned checkouts. That’s on top of full marketing automation across channels.

Both work well, so it comes down to whether you want AI support or omnichannel marketing.

Which alternative is closest to Tidio in terms of setup and interface?

Chatbot.com is the closest match. It pairs an easy drag-and-drop flow builder with an AI knowledge base and a customizable website widget, which is very similar to how Tidio works.

The main difference is that live chat runs through a separate LiveChat subscription instead of being built in.

Can I use any of these alternatives for both marketing and customer support?

Yes. Manychat and UChat both handle marketing automation and customer support in one platform. So, you can run campaigns and answer questions from the same tool.

Intercom does both too, with a stronger focus on support and enterprise-scale features.
